The 2022 AIMed Global Summit has been postponed from January 18-20 to a date to be decided in the spring, according to an email sent by event organizers. The rescheduling is due to the omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2.
Specifically, conference organizers cited the reason for the delay as the "rapid spread of the omicron coronavirus variant and global restrictions." Omicron cases in the U.S. have been on the rise since the variant was first identified in the country in December 2021. Currently, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that cases are exponentially increasing.
AIMed was originally scheduled to be held at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in California; part of the motivation for the delay was due to the risk posed to frontline workers of contracting the virus while attending or speaking at the meeting.
