FDA clears updated version of Thirona's chest CT software

Software developer Thirona has secured clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its LungQ (v3.0.0) software for chest CT image analysis.

The software uses AI to automatically segment the pulmonary segments and subsegments of the lung, which supports clinicians in the diagnosis and documentation of CT pulmonary tissue images.

The company initially secured clearance in 2018 for its version 1.1.0. It is currently being used in more than 600 hospitals around the world, it said.
