RaySearch Laboratories and Radiology Oncology Systems have entered into a strategic partnership to integrate advanced radiation therapy software into refurbished linear accelerators.
The purpose of the partnership is to expand access to radiation therapy and strengthen each company's market position, according to RaySearch.
"Today, many fully functional linear accelerators are routinely scrapped after 10 years, instead of being refurbished and used in centers that lack cancer treatment technology," RaySearch said in a statement, adding that the partnership will support wider adoption of RayStation and RayCare.
RayStation noted that the project will begin with two centers in Argentina that are both equipped with Varian Trilogy linear accelerators, one center in the U.S. that uses TrueBeam and RayStation, and one center in Mexico that uses Elekta Versa HD and RayStation.
