DirectMed buys MRI coil developer ScanMed

DirectMed Parts & Service has acquired ScanMed, an MRI coil company based in Omaha, NE. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

DirectMed repairs, supports, and sells MRI and CT system parts to healthcare networks, imaging centers, and independent service organizations around the world. Founded in 2004, ScanMed's proprietary coils include the Procure prostate coil, pediatric blanket and brain coils, and spine, vascular, and several extremity coils.

DirectMed representatives said there will be no changes to the ScanMed brand or the Omaha operation. DirectMed also owns Denmark-based LBN Medical, a leading European reseller of aftermarket medical imaging equipment.
