Radiology services provider Radisphere National Radiology Group announced it will implement a wide-ranging quality initiative through 2012.
The "Final Read on Quality" program will help hospitals improve patient care and radiology performance through ongoing client quality efforts that also help fulfill Joint Commission requirements for professional practice evaluation, the company said.
The initiative will focus on reducing radiation dose when imaging patients; to this end, Radisphere has released a quality update paper titled "A Proactive Approach to Radiation Dose Reduction." The company will also implement new imaging protocols with its clients to address concerns of the Joint Commission that were expressed in a recent sentinel event alert on the radiation risks associated with diagnostic imaging.
