CMS approves 5 new radiology MIPS performance measures for 2025

Five measures have been added to the American College of Radiology (ACR) National Radiology Data Registry Qualified Clinical Data Registry and approved for 2025.

For the new Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance year, the additional measures approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) include the following:

  1. ACRad 43: DXA [dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry] improving reporting of true change in bone mineral density
  2. QMM 23: Low dose cancer screening recommendation for CT of chest with diagnosis of emphysema
  3. QMM 24: Acute rib fracture numbering on ED trauma patients
  4. QMM 27: Appropriate classification and follow-up imaging for incidental pancreatic cysts
  5. QMM 28: Reporting breast arterial calcification (BAC) on screening mammography
