The Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) has published a national standard for medical device security.
The document, "Manufacturer Disclosure Statement for Medical Device Security," includes information on security control features integrated into medical devices, as well as a description of the roles of manufacturers and healthcare organizations in ensuring medical device security.
"MITA recognizes that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility among all involved market participants, and it requires health delivery organizations especially to work collaboratively with manufacturers to ensure the use of best practices," said Dennis Durmis, chair of MITA's board of directors, in a statement released by the alliance.
