Covera Health launches AI platform for women’s imaging

Clinical analytics firm Covera Health has launched an AI-powered platform called Protect Her, which identifies early signs of breast cancer, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis during routine scans.

Protect Her uses AI to analyze routine imaging studies that women are already undergoing, such as mammograms, chest CT exams, and x-rays, flagging signs and patterns that may be missed, according to the firm. These AI-detectable signs include patterns on mammograms that can indicate early malignancies, breast arterial calcifications on mammograms and coronary artery calcium (both markers of heart disease) on chest CT exams, and signs of vertebral spine fractures, which are often missed in early stages and can indicate osteoporosis, Covera said.
