Siemens Healthineers has moved the global headquarters for its ultrasound business unit from Mountain View, CA, to Issaquah, WA.
Siemens said that it has established a manufacturing operation in Issaquah to supplement the vendor's manufacturing facilities overseas. The renovated site will finish high-level assembly of the company's ultra-premium Acuson Sequoia scanner and will also have the capability to support other products in Siemens' ultrasound portfolio.
The company's Mountain View office will remain in operation, and it will become a satellite office to "leverage local talent," according to the company. Siemens noted that the company's ultrasound business began in Issaquah in 1993, and there are currently 300 employees working at the facility.
Siemens moved its ultrasound headquarters to Mountain View when it acquired ultrasound vendor Acuson in 2000.
