Siemens Healthineers has begun selling its Acuson Sequoia ultrasound scanner in Canada after receiving a marketing license from Health Canada.
Siemens debuted Acuson Sequoia in June 2018 as a brand new scanner that revived the legacy of the legendary Sequoia 512 system launched in 1996 by Acuson, which Siemens acquired in 2000. The first U.S. installation of the new Sequoia was announced in September.
Acuson Sequoia includes a number of enhancements, such as Deep Abdominal Transducer (DAX) technology, a new transducer architecture that supports penetration up to 40 cm. A new BioAcoustic imaging technology preserves the acoustic fidelity of the B-mode ultrasound signal and adapts to variations in each patient, according to the company.
The new Sequoia also sports high-resolution color flow with up to three times the sensitivity and up to 20% deeper penetration than conventional technologies.
