A Swedish hospital has boosted its radiation therapy efficiency by using an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm for treatment planning developed by radiation therapy software developer RaySearch Laboratories.
Mälar Hospital in Eskilstuna is using RaySearch's machine-learning algorithm to define tumor volume, a process called contouring which is usually performed using manual tools, according to the firm. The algorithm has been trained on clinical cases and can create contours of organs automatically, RaySearch said.
