U.K. magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology developer York Instruments has purchased radiation oncology vendor Elekta's MEG business.
Elekta has developed its MEG business over the past decade, installing more than 100 systems around the world. But the company recently decided that MEG is no longer a part of its core treatment and oncology informatics business, it said. In 2017/2018, the unit had net sales of 102 million Swedish kronor (approximately $11 million U.S.).
The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of Elekta's fiscal year 2018/2019 (end-August). In the short term, Elekta will continue to offer sales and support as York Instruments takes over the business.
