U.S. government nuclear components supplier BWX Technologies (BWXT) has hired nuclear medicine industry veteran Martyn Coombs to be president of its BWXT ITG Canada medical radioisotope division, effective July 20.
Coombs will have profit and loss responsibility for BWXT's current Canadian-based medical isotope unit, which has facilities in Vancouver and Kanata, Ontario, according to the company. He will also be responsible for growing the overall business and guiding the successful launch of its technetium-99m generator product line, which is currently in development, BWXT said.
Coombs joins BWXT ITG Canada with over 15 years of nuclear medicine business leadership experience, including most recently serving as CEO of nuclear medicine and life sciences consultancy Predict. He also spent four years as president of radiopharmaceutical firm Jubilant DraxImage, nine years with Amersham, five years in Japan as the number-two executive for Nihon Medi-Physics, and two years as CEO of imaging agent developer ImaginAb, according to the vendor.
Coombs will replace Tom Burnett, who is retiring.
