The International Atomic Energy Association (IAEA) has expanded its Safety in Radiation Oncology (SAFRON) radiotherapy patient safety tool to support radionuclide therapy.
Designed to help medical facilities improve patient and staff safety by sharing safety-related events and safety analysis, SAFRON for Radionuclide Therapy is an incident learning system that can enhance radionuclide therapy planning by identifying potential safety issues from events reported anonymously by institutions, according to the association.
After registering to use SAFRON, institutions can collect and analyze their reports to track trends and benchmark activities within their centers and with other SAFRON participants in radiotherapy and radionuclide therapy, the IAEA said.
