Breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) provider Dilon Diagnostics is highlighting research presented at the RSNA 2012 show that suggests molecular breast imaging (MBI) with the company's BSGI technology can detect breast cancer missed by mammography.
Dr. Rachel Brem from George Washington University Medical Center presented clinical data from a study that included 364 high-risk patients. All of the women had had a recent negative mammogram and then underwent an MBI examination with the firm's BSGI system. MBI detected breast cancer in nine patients of this cohort, all of whom had dense breasts, Dilon said.
