Shimadzu names new president

Shimadzu Precision Instruments, (SPI) which is fully owned by Shimadzu Corporation, and its division Shimadzu Medical Systems USA (SMS), have appointed a new company president effective April 1.

Taisuke “Ted” Goto, former vice president of business administration, has been promoted to be the new president of both SMS and SPI.

In a statement, the firm said that the former president of SMS and SPI, Junji Sakamoto, is taking on the new role of SMS corporate advisor to support the management team in ensuring a smooth transition.

Goto has had extensive sales and marketing experience at Shimadzu as the product manager of interventional x-ray in Japan and in new business development for Alzheimer’s disease treatment and infection prevention in North America.
