The Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) said on Friday that support continues to grow for the Lung Cancer Mortality Reduction Act (S 752, HR 1394).

The lobbying group said that more than 100 members of Congress, including 30 senators and 75 representatives, have signed on as co-sponsors. The newest co-sponsors include the following individuals:

  • Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL)
  • Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA)
  • Rep. Robert Brady (D-PA)
  • Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN)
  • Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD)
  • Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ)
  • Rep. Jan Shakowsky (D-IL)
  • Rep. Christopher Smith (R-NJ)

The alliance continues to press for a comprehensive national plan to reduce lung cancer mortality by 50% by the end of the decade, said Laurie Fenton-Ambrose, LCA president and CEO.
