Siemens shows images from its dual-source CT

Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA, displayed the latest clinical results of its syngo dual-energy CT application at Stanford University's International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT in San Francisco last week.

Six applications are available for clinical use on Siemens' Somatom Definition dual-source CT. The applications include subtraction of bone in CTAs with the corresponding differentiation between hard plaques and contrast agents; iodine removal from liver scans generating a virtual unenhanced image; display of lung perfusion defects; visualization of cartilage, tendons, and ligaments; and kidney stone characterization.
