Agfa-Gevaert's Technical Imaging business unit reported third-quarter sales of $1.4 billion (U.S.), up 1.5% compared with the same period last year. For the quarter (end-September 30), Technical Imaging -- which includes the Mortsel, Belgium-based firm's HealthCare division -- had operating earnings before restructuring costs of $216.7 million, up 51.7% compared with last year.
Agfa attributed the increase in profits to its Horizon restructuring plan. The unit's return on sales was 15.9%, compared with 10.6% in the same period in 2001.
